Farmer Boris goes to Grandma is the eighth part in the wildly popular and award-winning picture book series by Ted van Lieshout and Philip Hopman. Previous parts in the series were awarded a Vlag Wimpel and proclaimed Picture Book of the Year.

In Farmer Boris Goes to Grandma, Boris and his little sister Sam and brother Berend have picked a whole bunch of apples, pears and plums. Delicious, but what are they going to do with all that fruit? We're going to take it, says Boris Farmer, to Grandma in The Hague. She bakes pies from apples and makes juice from pears, and makes jam from plums for on rusk and in porridge. And so they set off, by train to The Hague. But once they arrive, Grandma turns out not to be the sweet old lady the reader had expected. For readers aged 3 and up.

Ted van Lieshout has an enormous and frequently awarded oeuvre to his name, but he has written very little for very young children. With Boer Boris he proves that he can do that very well, he knows exactly how to name those things that fascinate a toddler and understands the art of incorporating humor even in a text for such young children.

Illustrator Philip Hopman has also received many awards for his work, including the prestigious Max Velthuijs Award for his entire oeuvre. He has created a bright, cheerful, but above all warm world around Boer Boris. Young children will want to look at the drawings in the popular picture book series again and again – and their parents will enjoy it too.
